She lay upon her bed. Thinking.


The boy, Cut, intrigued her, she sensed something around him, something like what you would sense of a person who is older beyond his years. But it was not the same. Something different.


She leaned up. Then wondered if her dad was ok.

He fell, hard.

The impact cracked his jaw but he, although shaken, managed to stand up. The sniper rifle hung useless in his hands for a moment then it was up and aiming.


The first shot rung out pure through the streets. It took the Denizen by the head, an ordinary human would have died quite instantly, this however, just shook its head and continued to charge the fireball it held in its hands.

"Get off the car!" he screamed at the still moving Warthog. As if they chose to ignore him, the car sped on forwards. Machine gun splattering rounds into the Denizen.

Fullon cursed and chambered another round into the rifle, another resounding boom and the Denizen staggered backwards, off balance. Now, he felt only pure white anger.

The chattering of the machine gun stopped abruptly, as the gunner and the driver both simutanously jumped off the vehicle. But it continued towards its intended target. The Denizen, with nowhere to throw the fireball to, launched it towards the oncoming Warthog.

The fuel, coupled with the ammo on board, erupted into a huge flaming fireball which engulfed the Denizen.
